| New state nomination visa places pending The Victorian Government is awaiting further advice from the Department of Home Affairs on the allocations for skilled, business and investor state nominations for the remainder of the 2020-21 program year. We will provide an update as more information becomes available. Please continue to check our website news for updates. In the meantime, all other business innovation and investor visa nomination applications (subclass 188A, 188B, and 188E streams and subclass 132A and 132B streams) and the skilled program (subclass 190 and subclass 491) remain closed to new applications. We continue to select high calibre skilled migrants for nomination from the pool of Registration of Interest submissions. |
| More than half of nominated professionals graduated with an Australian qualification More than half of the professionals nominated for a Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa in our September 2020 campaign had studied in Australia prior to their Victorian nomination. |
 An analysis of Victoria’s interim 2020-21 skilled visa nomination program shows that 53 per cent of the 368 people nominated to date for a subclass 190 visa had graduated with an Australian qualification. Of those nominated, 27 had graduated with a PhD – 24 of which were completed in Victoria. Due to the new requirement, all nominees were already living and working in Victoria in heath or medical research and contributing to Victoria’s economic recovery. Once the program reopens, we continue to welcome students and PhD graduates to apply for Victorian visa nomination. All applicants must meet the minimum eligibility criteria to be considered for nomination. |
